Introducing our Eye Candy of the month: Natalee Johnston
Meet our latest Eye Candy Girl Natalee! She’s sharing her personal journey of embracing her feminine side, from early experiences to building confidence and finding her style. Get ready for an inspiring story of self-discovery and fabulous fashion choices!
Let’s start by telling everyone where you are from?
Hi, Folks I hail from the UK, and live about an hour from London, but have only been out as Natalee in the capital once, preferring to travel a little further from home to enjoy what I call “this wonderful addiction”.
When did you first start dressing and how did it come about?
My earliest recollection of my feminine side was when I was around 10 years old, and how I used to love watching my elder sister apply her makeup. She was quite glam for her age and I was so jealous of her. I can recall one occasion when she saw me looking, and asked me if I would have some makeup on me, of course I laughed it off and said No, but have regretted it ever since, lol.
I guess my first real opportunities to dress did not come until many years later when I was married, and like many other Tgirls I guess, squeezing into my wife’s shoes and dresses, and praying they didn’t break. lol. I did eventually buy a few bits and pieces of my own, but rarely got the sizing correct, and was always worried about hiding them and being discovered.
Moving on, I think my first realization that I could actually look quite feminine came when I plucked up the courage to visit a makeover salon and was totally blown away by the whole experience, so much so I booked to go back a few weeks later. I then had the bug and started running to lose weight, but more importantly to drop a few dress sizes, and over time lost around 40 lbs. That was around 15 years ago, and I have managed to keep the weight off ever since, which means I no longer have to wear a corset (although they can be quite sexy), and can get a nice shape with silicone hip pads, boobs and Booty!
How did you come up with your Femme name?
Natalee was a girl in a bar I used to frequent in boy mode, and I was always impressed that she always wore makeup and heels, and appeared to be the girl I would love to have been.
How often do you dress?
I am fortunate in that I can dress at home pretty much once a week, and like to do so just to keep up my makeup skills, and also to try on all the lovely new shoes and dresses I can’t stop buying. I also find a few hours in heels and a dress are so good for my mental health. In addition to dressing at home I also go out to Tgirl events every month or so.
Are you married/in a relationship? If yes, are you able to share your female self with your partner?
I am married and my wife knows about Natalee, and knows I dress at home, and attend Tgirl nights out. She has seen me dressed and other than the usual comments about heels too high and hemlines too short, she just puts up with me. She has been known, however, to borrow a handbag or a pair of tights.
I came out to her about 15 years ago when having to suppress Natalee was affecting my wellbeing and I made the decision to tell her, preparing myself for two scenarios, one of partial acceptance, and two, the end of the relationship. Thankfully she reluctantly agreed to accept I had a feminine side, but wanted nothing to do with it, so we agreed on some ground rules. I was more than happy to accept this as it meant I no longer had to hide, not only my feelings, but my growing secret wardrobe.
Tell us what goes into getting the perfect photo?
There is definitely an art to taking good photos, and I use a dslr with a wireless remote, or more recently I have found a good smartphone camera can get some nice videos, from which you can get some decent screenshots. Also don’t be afraid to explore every room in the house until you find the one with the best lighting, you may be surprised just how good that little spot at the foot of the staircase is.
What are some of your favorite outfits/fashions?
I am definitely a smart glam classy type of lady, and love the classic pencil skirt, blouse and heels look for daytime, and with 34 inch legs I naturally love to show them off in mini dresses and heels on girls night out. I am slim anyway but love the shape you can get with ruched dresses and some silicone hip pads.
Stockings or pantyhose?
Either, but always one or the other. Much as I would love to be a bare legs girl in the summer, my childhood of soccer and riding cycles has left a few scars and bumps on my legs that I prefer to disguise with some sheer hosiery. I have a nice collection of basques and lingerie and love nothing better than wearing a sexy basque and stockings under my dress to heighten the feminine buzz on a night out.
Heels or flats?
Heels always, even at 6’1” in bare feet. I just love the look and feeling of walking in heels, not to mention how great they make your legs look. I also love wearing strappy heeled sandals in the summer months, with pedicured toes and a floaty skirt or dress.
Favorite places to go when dressed?
I like to attend Tgirl events around the Uk, and meet up with good friends, where we will go for a meal at a mainstream restaurant, before hitting the bars. I have also had some solo daytime shopping trips, some heart-stopping evening walks around my neighborhood, and even went for a makeover at a MAC store, and also had a bra fitting at a local department store.
Go to accessories for a night out
I don’t really have a single go to accessory and usually carry only my phone, mini hairbrush, mini hairspray, a tissue and lipstick or lipgloss. I kind of hope my pre night out body prep and the 2 ½ hours getting ready, has covered all bases. That said In the summer months I always pop a small hand fan in my purse, which really comes in handy in crowded spaces when you feel like your face is melting.
Who is/are your female role model(s) and why?
Joanna Lumley (Actress – Absolutely Fabulous) is an inspiration who despite her age, still oozes sophistication, class and sex appeal. I am also inspired by pretty much any other woman I see who has taken the time and effort to show off their femininity, defined brows, lashes, nails, and of course a skirt and heels will always get my attention.
Tell us some fun facts about yourself. What are your hobbies (either when dressed or not), likes, things you do in your spare time, or anything else you would like to share?
Well, for 30 years I worked for the government in a pretty macho environment, and often dreamed of turning up at the office in my pencil skirt and heels, but alas it wasn’t to be.
I do however recall once when I had my lashes permed by a beautician friend, and as I have long lashes naturally they looked amazing and very feminine. This was great until I had to go to work a few days later and couldn’t lose the curl. I remember thinking the frame of my reading glasses would hide them a little and carried on as normal, until I went to the bathroom and looking in the mirror realised my glasses were actually magnifying the lashes, and I looked like I was actually wearing false lashes. Nobody said anything, but the lashes cannot have gone unnoticed, lol.
Also, and I don’t know if this is just me, but when I am dressed I seem to lose all fear of consequences, and have been known to walk out my front door fully dressed to the nines in my highest heels, even in the middle of the day. I have a phrase for this, which I call, playing Russian roulette with the neighbors. Lol
Any stories you would like to share about yourself and your journey?
I guess like many others I regret not accepting who I was and embracing my feminine side way earlier in my life, but I think back then folk were a lot less tolerant. In all honesty I don’t think they would not have known what a Tgirl was, and probably labeled us as perverts. Fast forward to today and folk are definitely more aware and more tolerant, so my advice would be, don’t wait 40 years to live your true life. It’s an old saying but this life is not rehearsal, so make the most of it.
If you have social media, what is the best way for others to follow you?
I am on facebook (Natalee Johnston), instagram (Natalee.Johnston) and Flickr (Natalee Johnston).
Before we go, would you like to send a message to your fellow girls out there or a closing statement.
Remember Ladies, hemlines can never be too short, or Heels too high no matter how old you are, and if you got it, then flaunt it, for we have a lot of missed years to make up for whilst enjoying “this wonderful addiction”.
