Why did you decide to start your own podcast?
I never got enough quality time with my fellow crossdressers at the events we were attending to share our stories and exchange notes on our dressing. So I thought to myself, why don’t I interview them for my blog and then it dawned on me that I should use a podcast format to do this and share the stories firsthand with the world.
How did you come up with the name of your podcast?
I had built a website for my blog and called it “My Girl Life” (www.mygirllife.com) and so in keeping the brand consistent I named the podcast My Girl Life Podcast.
Where do you see your podcast in five years?
I’ll be doing more video podcasts and I’d love a professional studio to do the podcast in, however, my main focus will be on content! Content is the lifeblood of any media entity and so I will be focused on creating compelling content and see where that takes us.
How did you market your podcast when it was brand new?
All of my marketing efforts were to my Facebook personal profile and to the followers of the My Girl Life Facebook page. I also belong to a few Facebook groups that were helpful in building my audience.
How do you decide on who to feature on the podcast?
I reach out to people I know or at least have met and gotten a vibe from. They also happen to be people that I’m genuinely interested in hearing their stories. I’m going to have people in every aspect of our community on the show so we can all benefit from all of our amazing and diverse stories.
What is the hardest part of operating the podcast?
Oh it’s definitely the technology! From recording correctly to editing the recording and is it in the right formats? The chatting with my guests is the BEST part!
What is your favorite part of your podcast?
My favorite part of the podcast is when my guest is the most vulnerable in the sharing of their story. It usually provokes an emotional reaction from me and I just love those moments.
Who can we look forward to hearing on the podcast soon?
Well I just launched a new type of My Girl Life podcast called “Talk ‘n Tell”. Talk ‘n “Tell will be my solo/video episodes and they will be shorter and more frequent. You can watch/listen to the first episode here www.youtube.com/@MyGirlLifePodcast.
