Over the last year or so, Ft. Lauderdale has been working toward making itself a top destination for crossdressers as the city has made quite an effort to make itself a popular destination for the transgender community. As more and more cities are accepting the LGBT community, now is a great time to book a trip and set off to a destination where you can dress as you wish and meet others from the TG/CD community from all over the country. We spent a lot of time researching some top destinations to help guide you on your way.
Here are Glamour Boutique’s Top 5 Destinations for Crossdressers in the US:
Las Vegas, NV
You know what they say – What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. With that being said, Las Vegas is the convention capital of the US and with so many visitors from all walks of life flying in for these conventions, it is a great city to get dressed and go out as your femme self like quite a few of these traveling businessmen do, enjoying the anonymity Vegas offers. For a total TG experience, Vegas-style, look no further than Diva Las Vegas.
Next year from April 15th through the 20th, The Diva Las Vegas gathering is going back to Vegas for their annual event that is going on 20 years now. What started out as a vacation for some crossdressing friends, Diva Las Vegas has turned into a weeklong “experience vacation.” Instead of guest speakers, seminars and convention halls, Diva Las Vegas takes the girls on various excursions throughout the city. Some activities in the past found the girls going to pole dancing classes, gun ranges, and arcades. At night the girls dress up in their hottest outfits for endless fun in the biggest party city in the country.
If you are looking for a more laid back experience, then Just You may be just right for you. Just You is a transgender-friendly male to female transformation company where Amy offers products and services to help TG’s and CD’s get the femme look they are craving. Just You offers everything from complete makeovers to dinner parties that go out into the Vegas night where you can be dressed up in your nightly best and experience Vegas as your feminine self. With these fun activities and so much more, Las Vegas is a must-stop destination for the Trans community.
Los Angeles, CA
For those of us here at Glamour Boutique, Los Angeles makes our list for many reasons, but none more than the fabulous RuPaul’s DragCon. Since debuting in 2015, DragCon has tripled in attendance and even introduced a second location in 2017 with DragCon in New York. As DragCon continues to grow, it has become a top destination for Drag Queens and Crossdressers. With vendors and exhibitors galore, this packed weekend also offers the opportunity to meet some of your favorite Queens from RuPaul’s Drag Race. The 2018 event will be held from May 11th thru the 13th.
While in LA, you should be sure to hit up some of the local establishments that cater to the Drag and Crossdressing crowd. Hamburger Mary’s offers amazing food as well as some great entertainment such as the Drag Queen Brunch every Saturday and Sunday. Just about every night has something to offer for the CD community at Mary’s. It’s a can’t miss. Since there is always something to do in LA on any given night, check out Showgirls on Mondays at Mickey’s West Hollywood. Hosted by Drag Race alum Raven, Showgirls is a favorite one of Mickey’s most popular nights.
Provincetown, MA
Moving over to the East Coast, Provincetown, MA on the tip of Cape Cod is a very small community but at the same time is one of the most popular vacation destinations for the LGBT community and the best known gay resort on the East Coast. During the high tourist summer season, it is common to see many CDs walking around hopping from bar to club and so on. Provincetown prides itself as being the destination for the LGBT community and even has a tourism board geared toward it.
One of the most popular things to do in Provincetown is the Tea Dance at the Boatslip Beach Club at 4 pm each day. If shopping is your thing, then you will be in heaven with all the great little local shops and boutiques. Find a fun new outfit for the Tea Dance or a nice summer dress for evening dinner overlooking the ocean. Once a year Provincetown hosts the Fantasia Fair which has been around since 1975. The Fantasia Fair is the longest-running annual conference in the transgender world and is a weeklong celebration of gender diversity. Provincetown should be on every CD bucket list as it is a place where you can feel free to be you as that is the most “P-Thing you can do” according to the locals.
San Francisco, CA
Having one of the largest LGBT community’s in the country makes San Francisco a great place to visit and enjoy as your femme self. One must-see stop is the GLBT Historical Society which is a museum dedicated to San Francisco’s long history with gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans culture.
For all of you party people, check out Divas. Divas is an over 4,000 sq. foot club with four floors of fun and prides itself as a nightclub for the transgender community and their admirers. With dedicated Transgirl nights on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Divas is party central.
For those of you that may be in or near San Francisco, due to the city’s large LGBT community, there are many meetup and support groups for those of you that are new to the community and looking for other like-minded individuals.
Providence, RI
Like San Francisco, another city with a strong LGBT community that usually flies under the radar is Providence, RI. One main reason is Pridefest, one of the biggest LGBT conferences in the country. This past June, Pridefest celebrated its 41st year as the week-long conference draws in the LGBT from all over the world. With a street fair, Illumination Parade and parties galore, Pridefest should be attended at least once by everyone in the trans community as it has become synonymous with Providence.
What stands out about Providence as well is that the LGBT community isn’t designated by an area of the city as it is spread throughout. That’s a huge plus when looking for a place to dress and go dancing for the night. In fact, the LGBT community is so ingrained in the city’s fabric, that the Providence Warwick Convention and Visitors Bureau has a “Glambassador” – YouTube Drag Queen sensation, Haley Star.
Any of these five cities are worth the trip for those girls looking to get away and leave their day to day life behind and vacation as their femme selves. Whether you dress in your very best and always like to be polished or enjoy a night out as a Drag Queen dancing the night away, these cities have something for any TG/CD out there. With a new year on the horizon, treat yourself to one of these great destinations and live it up!!
