Party Season for CD/TGs – Make Sure You Get Out and About
For those tempted to venture out during the party season and for those who have never ventured out we urge you to find your local cd/tg club/bar where you will be welcome with open arms by like-minded girls. Many invite you to attend for a first time in ‘drab’ if it makes you feel more secure so you can see if the location is for you or not.
Our ‘local’ venue is Amanda’s Hideaway in South Hackensack, NJ and we tasked our friend Kiki to report back to us on her take of one of their Saturday night party events. Amanda’s takes place every Saturday night and at least once a month they have a themed event which really draws the crowds. Xmas and New Year are an ideal time to visit and you are assured of a warm welcome. But don’t take our word for it – see what Kiki has to say:
“On October 25th, Amanda’s Hide-a-way threw their annual biggest party at the PL Lounge, 49 Louis Street, South Hackensack, the location for their weekly Saturday and Wednesday night parties from 9pm to 2am. The party was sponsored by GlamourBoutique.com, who provided the winning prizes for the exceptional costume competition. Space aliens, Cleopatra, Poison Ivy, BatGurl, nurses, cops, and even a priest rounded out the evening’s costumes. The crowd also had a vast array of fashions accounted for by attending gurls, from racey fashionistas to more conservative but smartly dressed gurls.
The party began peaking soon after the 9:00pm opening and didn’t let up until closing at 2. All night long, Amanda’s live disc jockeying kept the energy of the night pulsing, with a spooky emphasis on Halloween tunes. It seemed like the place was haunted by Vincent Price every time his voice of doom intoned from the speakers. At evening’s end, as long time attendee Rita Knight, dressed as Bat Gurl gave out the prizes, the sense of Halloween abandon together with Hideaway intimacy was absolutely fabulous.

NEW JERSEY
Amanda’s is the longest running transgender party in the NYC metropolitan area. Amanda took over the helm on June 11, 2011, after Karolyn had kept this party going since 1991. It affords a relaxed, supportive and exciting environment for gurls and their admirers. Gurls can dress at the club or come dressed. There are plenty of nearby motels. The club is situated in a business neighborhood that is both safe and secluded. Everyone is respectful and it’s easy to start up conversations all around you throughout the evening. Gurls come and go as they please, with parking right in front of the club in a private parking lot and it’s the perfect scene for a night out.
Amanda herself serves as the live disc jockey and the entry is a paltry $5.00 with a two drink minimum. Think a transgender Cheers nightclub, festooned in Christmas lights and even a gogo pole and dance floor! Halloween, while the biggest party of the year, was no different than any of the Saturday and Wednesday night transgender parties at the PL Lounge, 49 Louis Street in South Hackensack in that everyone feels fabulous and everyone belongs. There’s a reason why there’s a celebratory feeling to Amanda’s parties at the Hide-a-way: it’s a celebration of the transgender scene and the wonderful friendships that blossom from these nights.”
Enjoy yourself this holiday season with like-minded people. There are places like Amanda’s all over the country and if you are close enough to one then get out there and mingle and enjoy the support and friendship of other girls. Happy Holidays.
