Some crossdressers stop dressing from June through to the end of August – why is that? Often family commitments take over, shaving legs become an issue when wearing guy shorts and also it can become very hot, depending on where you live and where you go dressed in your female-self.
If the heat is the issue then we may well have some of the answers for helping you to dress all year round such as:
- Wearing Cool Hair Pieces
- Using powder to illuminate running makeup
- Applying skin antiperspirant for hot body area
- Wearing open-crotch pantyhose or stay-ups
- Choosing open toe shoes
Starting from the top down, we will give you our top tips for lowering the temperature during your summer crossdressing. From head to toe, we have some great advice to make you more comfortable.
WIG SELECTION: One area that generates so much heat in summer for crossdressers is the head. Many wigs have a fairly solid wig cap construction with little ventilation. Men tend to perspire (sweat) more than women so we need all the help we can get. Choose wigs like our larger-caps in the transgender wigs selection. These all have open caps and a thinner weft for lighter weight, better comfort and importantly, better air circulation than the average wig. Also, think about wearing a standard stocking wig cap over hair before adding the wig. The stocking cap will absorb moisture first and help to keep the wig looking pristine.
SETTING POWDER: Makeup application for crossdressers in summer can be a big problem as the temperature rises. Try to keep it a simpler makeup application with less heavy layers. But above all, we would suggest using an anti-sweat lotion before applying any makeup as part of your preparation. This will act as a sweat-retardant to help keep you cool. Also, be sure to use a setting powder after the first foundation application and then again, after you finish all other parts of the makeover (eyes, blush, contour, etc). Take powder with you to re-apply when you perspire rather than wiping the makeover with a tissue (or take a powder compact).
SKIN ANTIPERSPIRANT FOR CHEST: If you wear breast forms or simply stuff a bra you generate a lot of heat in the chest area. Apply the ‘miracle’ product No-Sweat to the chest area before adhering breast forms (if using adhesive) or putting on forms and bra. This stops the immediate area of the chest from sweating and so helps keep you cool and comfortable. If it’s really hot, think about having a pair of Foam Breast Forms as a back-up – they are a lot lighter and they breathe, unlike silicone.
HOSIERY CHOICE: Summer is not the ideal time to wear thicker opaque tights to give the appearance of beautiful feminine legs. Think of a lower denier pantyhose or stay-ups and having some nice summer color on your legs – there’s nothing healthier looking. If you prefer pantyhose then make sure to choose an open-crotch pantyhose pair to get a nice breeze underneath the skirt/hem of your dress and so help keep you cool. If you prefer stockings, then ditch the added layer of a garter-belt and simply use stay-ups to keep you cooler all-night long.
OPEN TOE SHOES: After a long summer’s day in guy clothes doesn’t it feel good to take your shoes and socks off at the end of the day? Of course, because your feet are closed in all day generating so much heat. Do yourself a favor when dressing in your female-mode and buy some super-comfortable and sexy open-toe shoes. Just make sure you do some basic care of your feet and toenails – there’s nothing worse than un-cared for feet in open toe shoes. If you can’t paint your nails then apply some clear varnish for that polished look. Better yet, treat yourself to a pedicure – we know many clients that do this in their ‘guy-mode’ and the feet are so much more attractive. Wearing open toe shoes is so much more comfortable and cooling in the summer.
Don’t let the heat get to you this summer and for sure, don’t let it stop you dressing up and enjoying that special part of you.
