Transgender Makeup Tips For a Natural Look
One area where many TGirls struggle is looking natural when going out during the day. Sometimes it’s not just a matter of passing, but feeling comfortable in your own skin while out. Wearing heavy makeup isn’t always the best look as the daylight can really highlight the amount of makeup you have on. Most TGirls aren’t used to this different kind of lighter, more natural makeup application since they feel they need the heavier makeup to hide their male features. We understand how important it is to blend in during any time of day and we want to ensure TGirls out there who are self-conscious about their makeup when out, that the experts at Glamour Boutique have you covered. Let’s see some great ways to help you make those subtle changes to your look with some natural makeup tips that can make you feel more confident when out.
Our Top MTF Makeup Tips
1. Find A Pressed Powder You Like
Pressed powders are great for reducing the look of oily skin and they help to make your overall complexion look even. Pressed powders come in a compact as opposed to loose powders that come in a jar. Pressed powders are great as they use a much thinner level of coverage than foundations, and are great as an alternative base than the heavier foundations that make your face look very thick makeup-wise during the daytime. This also makes the pressed powder a great option for covering minor blemishes. Just be careful, as using too much pressed powder can leave you with a “caked-on appearance” which is the opposite of what we want to accomplish with this application.
2. Enhancing Your Natural Eyelashes
Our second MTF beauty tip is about one of our best assets – our eyes. And one of the easiest ways to achieve a natural makeup look around your eyes is through a good mascara. Mascara is a staple item in any girl’s makeup bag so having it with you at all times is a no-brainer. In the daytime, it is easier to spot long fake eyelashes, so working your natural eyelashes with some natural mascara is a step in the right direction to achieve your daylight look. You can also find some natural mascaras that have microfibers to help your eyelashes grow a bit over time. The great thing is that you can find many of these mascaras for a low cost at many drug stores. A voluminous mascara is another great option as it can give you fuller-looking eyelashes. Lastly, an eyelash curler can help you get the most out of your natural lashes by offering an enhanced effect once used. So be sure to start your mascara application with some eyelash curling.
3. Earthy and Nude-Colored Eyeshadows
Once we have our eyelashes sorted out, we still need to apply some eyeshadow. For daytime application, it is better to stay away from darker bold colors as they can often be too much during the day. Instead, try for a nude color that will blend nicely with your natural skin tone. Here, less is definitely more. Browns and paler skin colors will provide more depth without being too overpowering. Choose a shade slightly darker than your skin tone. Brush it into the creases and along the lower lashes, making sure there are no hard edges. Make sure to blend properly so your eyeshadow can look as natural as possible. Our range of makeup includes an eyeshadow palette kit with some lovely light browns, or you could even use a contour palette on your eyelids to add light color and give your eyes a subtle pop. As long as you keep application nice and light, you’ll achieve a fabulous natural look.
As well as a dash of nude-colored eyeshadow, you might want to add some eyeliner to your daytime look too. Here are a couple of eyeliner tips for men:
- As with all our other advice here, keep it light with nice thin lines, nothing too harsh.
- You could use liquid liner on the eyelid (great for cat eye looks) but keep it close to the lash line and go for small flicks.
- Alternatively to liquid liner, use a pencil on the waterline of your upper lid – this will add depth to your eyes without increasing the amount of makeup.
4. A Natural Rosy Glow
Another top MTF makeup tip is the use of a gorgeous blusher. We want our cheeks to look healthy and natural without overuse of contouring or of just too much makeup in general. A good way to go here is with a very subtle light pink blusher which can be applied to the cheeks for a nice rosy glow since it meshes really well with your skin and gives the best finish. You can create a healthy, natural-looking glow by swirling a small dab of color onto the apples of the cheeks and buffing it out in circular motions. This technique will both widen and brighten your face.
When trying to get your transgender makeup looking natural, the most important thing is to remember that less is more. Skip the heavy foundations and the darker shades of makeup. The important thing is to look fresh and light to match the daytime hours that you will be out. As always with makeup applications, practice makes perfect. So try out these tips and see how much your confidence will build when you are out during the day looking natural and beautiful en femme.
