Finding the perfect corset starts with accurate measurements. Whether you are a crossdresser looking to feminize your shape or simply seeking the right fit, measuring correctly is crucial. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to measure for a corset and ensure you get the best fit for your body type.
Measuring for a Corset (Crossdressers & Masculine Torso’s)
While measuring for men and women follows the same steps, body proportions differ. On average, men tend to have wider rib cages and narrower hips compared to women. Our corsets are specifically designed for crossdressers/masculine forms, meaning they have a narrower hip cut to accommodate masculine body shapes while still creating a feminine silhouette.

How to Measure Your Waist for a Corset
- Find Your Natural Waist – This is the smallest part of your torso, typically at or about 1 inch above your belly button. To locate it, bend side to side and note where your torso creases.
- Measure Your Waist – Use a soft measuring tape and wrap it around your natural waist, ensuring a snug but not tight fit. Keep the tape taut but not too tight, and make sure you are relaxed—do not hold your breath or flex while measuring.
- Determine Your Corset Size – Subtract 5-7 inches from your natural waist measurement. For example, if you measure 38 inches, deduct 6 inches, so your correct corset size is 32.
Handy Tips for Choosing Your Corset Size
- If you can pinch an inch or more of soft flesh around your waist, you can safely deduct up to 7 inches from your natural waist measurement.
- If your waist is lean and muscular, it has less “give,” so opt for the lower end of the size reduction (closer to 5 inches).
- Double-boned corsets are extra strong, allowing for a greater reduction. If your waist is 38 inches or more, you can often go down 7-8 inches.
If you are new to corseting, err on the bigger size and work your way down over time.

Choosing the Right Corset Style
Most of our corsets are designed for a masculine torso and are cut narrower at the hip to create a natural feminine shape. However, we also offer unisex corsets that are also designed for women, which are our Short Waist Cinchers, Underbust Corset For Waist Training, Pink Full Corset With Half Cups, Satin Full Corset With Half Cups, and Full Bridal Corset With Half Cups.
There are many factors to consider when selecting a corset, including body type and experience level. For a more in-depth guide, check out our article titled: Corset Size Calculator.

Measuring for a Corset (Feminine Torso)
For those with a naturally feminine body shape, the measuring process is the same, but proportions differ. Women’s bodies typically have wider hips and a more defined waist. Our unisex corsets accommodate these differences, providing a more contoured fit in the hip area.
Steps for Measuring Women’s Waist for a Corset
- Find Your Natural Waist – As with masculine forms, bend side to side and find where your torso creases.
- Measure Your Waist – Use a soft measuring tape and wrap it around your natural waist, ensuring a snug but not tight fit.
- Determine Your Corset Size – Deduct 4-7 inches from your natural waist measurement, depending on your level of comfort and experience with corsets.
